Peter Foster

Europe Editor, The Telegraph

Peter is an international journalist with two decades of experience reporting from around the world for The Telegraph Media Group, including eight years in the emerging markets of India and China and four years as US Editor in Washington DC.

He returned to London in September 2015 to take up the newly-created role of Europe Editor at the Daily Telegraph, covering the future of the European Union including the Greek debt crisis, the future of the Euro, the upcoming “Brexit” negotiation and the on-going migrant crisis.

In October 2015 he published “Facing Facts: Is Britain’s Power Diminishing?”, a short book examining Britain’s future role in the world produced with Project for the Understanding of the 21st Century (PS21), a Reuters-backed think-tank with a brief to raise the profile public debate on issues of major global interest.

Facing Facts was based on a decade of reporting in India, China and the US during which Peter has observed at close quarters the emergence of a turbulent new geopolitics, and Britain’s efforts - not always successful - to grapple with the ‘new world disorder’.

As well as political events, over the last two decades Peter has also covered a wide range of major breaking news events, including the September 11 attacks in New York, the post-conflict phases in Afghanistan and Iraq, the Boxing Day tsunami of 2004, the Kashmir Earthquake of 2005, the collapse of Zimbabwe, the Sri Lanka civil war and the 2011 Fukushima nuclear disaster.
